Zespół Pieśni i Tańca "KORTOWO"

ZPiT "KORTOWO" jest reprezentacyjną grupą folklorystyczną Uniwersytetu Warmińsko-Mazurskiego w Olsztynie. Historia powstania zespołu sięga lat 50., kiedy to grupa studentów postanowiła powołać grupę taneczną kultywującą polski folklor. Wieloletni dorobek "KORTOWA" jest dziełem wybitnych autorytetów w dziedzinie muzyki i tańca, którzy przyczynili się do stworzenia oryginalnego i niepowtarzalnego oblicza artystycznego zespołu. Repertuar ZPiT "KORTOWO" jest bogaty i zróżnicowany.

Zespół przedstawia tańce narodowe: poloneza, mazura, kujawiaka i oberka, widowisko (we fragmentach) z regionu warmińskiego "Zapusty" oraz pieśni i tańce ludowe z terenów niemalże całej Polski, a wśród nich obrazki sceniczne z regionów: Kurpi Zielonych, Lublina, Kujaw, Rzeszowa, Krakowa, Podhala, Łowicza, Opoczna oraz Śląska. Od 55 lat "KORTOWO" reprezentuje Polskę na wielu koncertach i festiwalach krajowych i zagranicznych.

Students Song and Dance Ensemble "Kortowo" came into being at University of Warmia and Mazury in 1950. The propose of its activity is the popularisation of beautiful and vivid Polish folklore through folk dances, songs and rites, particularly those from Warmia and Mazury region where the group mostly performs. But they are known not only in the northeast of Poland. Thanks to the artistic performances, the group has traversed throughout Poland, warmly welcomed and rewarded everywhere. They have given numerous performances abroad as well. The members of the group are mainly students of University of Warmia and Mazury.

They have two ballet and vocal groups and the band one; all of them give own concerts with special prepared programmes. They have about 1800 concerts during home and foreign concerts routes. The group was at four private audiences with the Pope - John Paul II (two concerts in Castle Gandolfo-private residence).
